GOLDEN EMERALD - 3rd at Kempton

Golden Emerald recorded a very creditable 3rd place spot, on his first run for the yard, on Monday. Unfortunately he came up against a Gosden "Hotshot", in Mahsoob, who won easily and who, according to Newmarket sources, had been working very well at home. We were very pleased with Golden Emerald's run as he has shown he is a better horse on a sound surface and with his three siblings all winners on the AW we believe he can give owners a lot of fun over the winter months. The RP stated he carried his head awkwardly but although he carried it slightly to the left he was as straight as a gun barrel down the home stretch. We will look for an easier Maiden for him over 8f and he should be capable of staying a bit further.
We have a few shares left for sale (at £6,100) in a horse who will provide some fun over the winter months and on good ground on the turf next year.

RIO RONALDO - 3rd at Nottingham

Rio Ronaldo ran well at Nottingham on Wednesday, achieving a 3rd place spot beaten a Head and a Short Head. Unfortunately with only 4 runners in the race Ronaldo was not able to get cover and was a bit free. He looked the winner at the furlong pole as he loomed up to the leader but his early exertions had cost him. We would have liked to have ended the season on a win with Ronaldo but he was bought as a yearling with a 3yo campaign in mind so his runs at 2 have been a bonus. It was interesting to see the horses in the paddock before the race and Ronaldo looked to have much more scope than the opposition which bodes well for next year.

The photograph shows Ronaldo in the Winners' Enclosure after the race with his stable lad, Hugo, and I. Also present were Peter Graham and Alan East, although one can only see the legs of both. The photograph is courtesy of Ann Graham who kindly took the photos as my phone had run out of juice!

CONJURING 4th at Newmarket

Conjuring (aka Trixie at home) recorded another fine effort in defeat at Newmarket recently. She was drawn low and did not get the cover she ideally needed which resulted in her running a bit free. However, she kept battling despite not coping with Newmarket's undulations and stayed on to record a 4th place spot. She is a very game filly and that will be it for the current season. She looks the type to train on and we look forward to a 3yo campaign with her.
The photo shows delighted connections in the 4th place spot in the Winner's Enclosure at Newmarket.
