Sweet Gale 2nd

Sweet Gale came second at Newmarket on friday and while you might think we would be delighted to be in the frame we were bitterly disappointed. The instructions to the jockey were to sit and wait and not to make a move before the final furlong marker. However, travelling well and looking like the winner 2 furlongs out the jockey made his way for home too soon and Sweetie was collared in the final half furlong.
A second placing shows the horses are well but there is nothing like a winner!!

WINNER - Rock Anthem & Sarah Watson

Yes Rockie wins again, this time for our own Sarah Watson who first win it is on her fourth ride!
Rockie won 6 days after his success at Lingfield this time scoring by 6 lengths. Sarah has been riding out for us for this year and had two rides before she rode Rockie at Yarmouth. Unfortunately, the ground went against the pair that day but Sarah rode a good race to come 5th. At Salisbury the ground and the pace of the race suited Rockie and Sarah followed instructions to the letter keeping Rockie at the back and creeping into the race before going for home at the furlong pole.
Sarah looked very tidy and she is worth her 5lb claim in such races and she will be riding for us again in similar races.

WINNER - Rock Anthem

Rock Anthem won at Lingfield on Saturday evening by 3 1/4 lengths. We are so pleased for the horse and the owners Ron and Millie Bright who have been with the yard from the outset. Rockie has been so unlucky this year being 2nd on three occasions. You would be forgiven for thinking he was ungenuine but he is one of the most genuine horses we know. He always comes out of his box with so much enthusiasm and his nickname is "Rockie".
He is entered in an Amateur riders' race at Salisbury on friday and providing he comes out of the race ok and the ground is not easy then he is likely to take his chance.

ENTRIES w/b 2nd August

Sweet Gale runs at Windsor on monday, in the 8.30. She remains in great order and we are hopeful of another good run. The problem is she has risen in the weights for her 2 wins and other good runs this year. However, we have Louis-Philipe Beuzelin on board claiming 5lbs. He rode her at Kempton earlier this year and so knows the horse. Our fingers are crossed for no further rain which might be a big ask given the weather we are having recently!!
Ross Moor is entered in three races this week as we try and capitalise on his well being and also seek good ground. Brighton has an attactive £26,000 race over 1m4f and although we are not sure whether he will handle the track it is worth taking a chance with such a prize on offer for the grade of race.
Rock Anthem is also entered in a valuable Brighton race worth similar levels to the one above. However, he is very unlikely to get in and so we have an option at Sandown on thursday. He has come out of the amateur race well and hopefully he will give a good account of himself.

Recent Results w/e 1st August

Rock Anthem 5th monday, 27th July. Rockie ran in the Ladies Amateur race at Yarmouth ridden by our own Sarah Watson. It was her third ride and we were hopeful of a good run. Unfortunately the heavens opened before the race turning the ground softer than was ideal for Rockie. However, Sarah rode a competent race and the horse gave his best and the pair were fifth. It was more experience for Sarah and hopefully we can provide a winning ride for her.
Ross Moor- 3rd in the apprentice race on 29th July at his, and our, favourite racecourse, Sandown. It was aslo the scene of two of his three wins, the last just 7 days earlier. Unfortunately there was not enough pace in the race and although Ross made his move at the 2f pole his was tapped for toe by two others.
