Sweet Gale 4th Goodwood

Sweet Gale ran another good race on Sunday at Goodwood. Unfortunately there was not sufficient pace for her so she was not able to pick the leaders up in the final furlong. She is holding her condition and form very well but she too, like Rockie, is entitled to a little break. She has also run 14 times this year winning twice and coming second on three occassions.

WINNER - Rock Anthem Sandown

Rockie won his third race of the year, at Sandown, on friday last week. He finished second past the post to Desert Kiss but as the jockey of the latter weighed in 1.5lbs light his mount was disqualified and Rockie was placed first. Rockie once again ran a great race under Andrea Atzeni who had steered him to success at Lingfield. He was not able to get to the winner but maybe the 1.5lbs were the difference. Certainly the handicapper thinks so raising both horses 3lb.
Rockie deserves a break now having ran 14 times this year, securing 3 wins and 3 seconds. He is going to find it hard work running off his new mark of 75!

Jamie Kyne

It was with great shock and sadness we heard of the tragedy which befell Jamie. We used Jamie soon after he started riding in this country on our mare Limonia who he rode to three consecutive second places.
Much has been written about him and his talent and we can only wholeheartedly endorse everything which has been written about him, 100% of which is positive.
Jerry Cullinan, my assistant, spotted him in January 2008 and we thought he was well worth his 7lb claim. We jocked him up on Limonia in February 2008 at Southwell. I picked the saddle up from him in the weighing room and there was this slip of a lad with the most angelic of faces but with a cheery personality and a determination to follow the riding instructions to the letter. Even at this stage his professionalism shone above anything else we had seen from someone of such tender years.
He rode a cracking race and was so disappointed not to win. He followed up with two further seconds on her and each time we could not fault him. We thought then that here was a champion jockey in the making.
After each race he rang up to check the horse was ok, he was so professional even at that eary stage and his parents should be very proud.
One light hearted anecdote: when at Southwell in those early days I remember Eddie Ahern asking me if Jamie's mum knew he was not at school? For someone so young he showed such talent and fantastic potential.
He will be so sadly misssed by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts are with his family and we, like most others, can not begin to understand the loss they are suffering.

Entries- Rock Anthem Kempton 4th September

"Rockie" goes for the hatrick at Kempton in the final of the Apprentices' race. He is in great form and although the handicapper has raised him almost a stone for his two wins he should give a good account of himself, especially with David Probert the pilot.

WINNER - Trempari

Trempari won his first race at Lingfield yesterday over 2 miles. He was given an excellent ride by Tony Culhane who followed instructions to the letter. We will think now about another go on the flat and then go hurdling as he jumps very well at home.
