Three consecutive 2nds in a week

We have had three seconds in the past week with Ebraam 2nd in a Listed race followed by Chapter and Verse who ran two blinding races to take second place at Kempton on thursday night followed by a second place at Wolverhampton on Friday night. We would not normally run a horse twice in two days but he had eaten up on thursday night and friday morning and we felt he would do himself justice, which he did. He will now have a break and return on the turf next season.

Top 20 training yard in 2009

We were delighted to see we were joint 16th place in the Racing Post British Trainers Championship judged on the number of winners to runnners for those trainers with 5 or more winners. We see this as the most relevant statistic when judging a trainers's performance. Horses of varying ability are sent to trainers with the aim of winning races. The skill is to get the horse to the racecourse and then to win as many races as possible. Therefore, the number of wins to the number of runs is a much better metric for assessing a trainer than actual money won. Every horse is different and we believe by giving individual attention we can get the optimal peformance.

Ebraam 2nd in a LISTED RACE

Ebraam ran an absolutely cracking race to take 2nd place in the Betdaq Golden Rose Listed race over 6f on Saturday 21st November. Ridden by Martyn Dwyer he made best use of his number 2 draw and was always well placed behind Jaconet. Unfortunately he could not get past her although it was not for lack of trying. Jaconet would not be beaten but we were thrilled to have get a 2nd place in our first effort in a Listed race.

Premiership Additions to Yard

We are delighted to welcome three new additions to the yard. Servoca, rated 92, and Chapter and Verse, rated 80, were both purchased from Barry Hill's draft at the Tattersalls Horses in Training sale.
Servoca is a big strong grey colt who has an excellent temperament and will be given a break following a second placing for us on his first run for the yard. He will be targetted at the big sprint handicaps in 2010.
Chapter and Verse is also a grey and is a scopier individual who came 3rd in his first run for us and will remain on the go for a winter campaign on the All-Weather over 8-10f.
Ebraam was claimed last thursday and he too will be campaigned on the AW over the winter. He is rated 95 on the AW and 77 on the flat so he will remained busy in the top sprint handicaps over the winter.
