Fwd: La Fortunata 2nd at Epsom

          La Fortunata 2nd at Epsom

La Fortunata ran an outstanding race from the front but just got collared on the line at Epsom today. Having her first race of the season she was entitled to be a bit Ring rusty but she bolted out of the stalls and never got headed until the final  stride. She did not help her chances by wandering down the hill and if she kept straight she would have undoubtedly won. All being well she will come back here for the "Dash" on Derby day over the same distance.

VALDAW Wins again

Valdaw recorded the 4th win of his career, and the 4th win this year, under an excellent ride from William Twiston-Davies. Valdaw likes a good end to end gallop and we knew he would get that in an apprentice race. As it was open to riders who had not won more than 50 winners then Willie was available as he had won 48. Also, Willie knows the horse as he won on him at Lingfield earlier this year. Everything went absolutely to plan as they went a good gallop up front and Willie was able to get a great tow into the race. The fact they went quick up front made it look easy for the horse. We will see how he comes out of the race and he may go back to Lingfield next Friday where he would not carry a penalty for today's win.
We were cursing Willie yesterday for getting his mount up on the line to beat our mare, La Fortunata, but we will be toasting him tonight!!

Love Your Looks LISTED 3rd.

Love Your Looks was again placed in Listed company on Saturday when coming 3rd in the Snowdrop Listed Fillies race over a mile at Kempton. She was a bit keen early in the race on her first start of the season. However, she then settled very well and we thought at the furlong pole she was going to win. It was not to be as the class act of the race, Lily's Angel, came with her run for a deserved win and LYL faded in the final half furlong. We were thrilled with LYL's run and she now has Listed placed efforts in her last two runs.
The photograph shows LYL in the 3rd place spot of the winner's enclosure with her breeders, Fred Ellis and Dr and Mrs Thorsten Feddern, and Heidi who is responsible for her work and grooming at home. LYL won best turned out before the race and it was justified as she looked outstanding in the paddock.

Chapter And Verse 4th

Chapter And Verse came 4th in the London Mile Qualifier on Saturday. He won the Final of this series in 2010 and we are keen for him to be in the final again this year. The race was a messy affair with not the pace Chapter would have liked. He looked to be travelling really well at the 2f pole but the leaders quickened up and it took a while for him to find top gear.
The photo shows him out in the paddock on Sunday (with his mate Lutine Bell cantering in the background) enjoying a break after racing the previous day. He appears to have come out of the race really well and we will look for another race in the near future.

Lutine Bell 6th

Lutine Bell ran very well at Kempton on Saturday. Although he came 6th, and was beaten 5 1/2 lengths, the run was a good one as he was at the back early on and could not get a prominent position due to his slow start. He was making up ground down the straight but in vain as the leaders had led all the way at a good even gallop. The picture shows Lutine out in the paddock enjoying a day off after his run.
