RIO RONALDO WINS at SANDOWN

Rio Ronaldo scrored the 5th success of his career in style at Sandown yesterday. Sent off the 5-2fav he was the class act in the field and it showed in the final furlong where he gracefully moved from near last to get up in the final 25yards to score by a neck from Royal Mezyan.
This was his first success of the season but things hadn't gone right for him in previous races but yesterday they did. He got the strong pace he likes to aim at and although he was last going into the final part of the race he always looked as though he had another gear. Under a confident ride from Antonio Fresu, who didn't have to revert to the whip, Rio found that extra gear in the final furlong and won a shade cosily.
His main targets for the year are the sprint series finals at Windosr and Nottingham and hopefully he can pick up one of these prizes.
