ZAMPERINI - 2nd at Goodwood

Zamperini ran a fine race at Goodwood on Wednesday finding only one horse too good for him and recording a second place position. The underfoot conditions were in his favour with the ground described as Soft. Jimmy Fortune settled Zamperini at the back of the field and the horse always looked comfortable. At the 2f pole we were getting excited as Zamperini made his move and it looked as though it was a winning move until we spotted Lunar Jet travelling very smoothly and ultimately winning quite comfortably. However, it was a very good performance by our horse who is now getting his ground.
The photo shows Zamperini's connections, Bill and Maureen Tillett, together with stable lad Hugo Meunier.

KODIAC EXPRESS 2nd at Lingfield

Kodiac Express ran another great race in defeat yesterday, this time at Lingfield. She had come out of the Sandown race very well. She had put all of her weight loss back on in two days and the lad who rode her at home, Kumbh Singh, said she was very happy and ready to go again. We declared her for yesterday on Good,Good to Firm ground but the 5mm of rain they had on Tuesday night moved the going to Good to Soft and despite a dry day the going was still on the easier side by the off. She would have preferred quicker ground and the ease in the ground did not help her cause, especially with the 1f step up in trip. She jumped very well from the stalls and her jockey, George Buckell, couldn't get cover as they spread across the track. She ran gamely from the front but the winner always had us in his sights and was a decisive winner.
We were very pleased with Kodi's efforts but it is the third time this year she has been in the 2nd placed spot. However, she has given us all a lot of fun and hopefully she can shed that maiden tag.
The photo below shows Kodi's happy connections (from ltr Bill and Christine Rogerson, Paul Arlotte, Michael Keady, Ann and Peter Graham in the foreground and Tony in the background) in the familiar spot of 2nd place!

TITAN GODDESS - 3rd at Brighton

Titan Goddess ran respectably at Brighton on Sunday achieving a 3rd place spot. She would have been a lot closer had she not blown the start by about 3 lengths. She has been slow away a few times this season although it is difficult to see why this should be. She is a honest and game mare and hopefully she can get back to winning ways in the near future.

KODIAC EXPRESS - 2nd at Sandown

Kodiac Express (Kodi) put in another good performance last Friday and failed by only a neck to break her maiden tag. She was drawn on the outside of the 10 runners which is not ideal over 5f at the track. However, she broke well, managed to get cover and, despite gatting a little unbalanced and outpaced in the middle of the race, she stayed on strongly in the final furlong. She went down by a rapidly diminishing neck but we were delighted with her performance.
She is a straightforward and tough filly who has recovered from the race well and heads to Lingfield tomorrow in good form.
The photo shows connections in the Winners' Enclosure although sadly not in the spot where everyone wants to be!

Gian, one of our lads, is holding the filly while Tony and Lindsay Basing together with Robert Cooper talking to the jockey, Antonio Fresu.
