Second again

Benandonner ran a great race at Lingfield on Saturday to finish second. He led from start to the last 1/2f but was just beaten by 3/4 lengths. He always gives his best and he is a delight to have in the yard.

New Horse - Jolly Cooper

Jolly Cooper arrived in the yard in December and she is a beautiful grey mare who is owned by Ian and Bobby McInnes who run the Jolly Coopers pub in Flitton (it is a very attractive traditional country pub with a 40 seater restaurant serving traditional home cooked Country fayre and specialising in fish dishes).
"Belle" had previously run over hurdles but Ian and Bobby wanted to give her a try on the flat and she has had two runs at Lingfield running with credit. Shane Kelly says she is very genuine which confirms what she shows us at home and we are hopeful of picking up a race with her. In fact we are desperate to win a race with her so we can have a party at the pub!!!

New Horse - La Fortunata

La Fortunata arrived in the yard today and we are hopeful we can get the elusive win she so richly deserves. She is the size of a pony but has a heart of a lioness judged by her battling qualities on her last two runs.
She is a "pocket rocket" and was beaten by a head and 3/4 lengths respectively in her last two starts over 5f at Kempton, on both occassions looking like the winner with a furlong to go but just caught on the line.
We love her battling qualities and we are hopeful we will see a little improvement to get that elusive winner for owner-breeder Jim Patton (who lives less than a mile from the yard) and his fellow owners Mario and Stuart.

New Horse - Benandonner

We were delighted to have Beanandonner join the yard on 7th December from Richard Fahey. He is a genuine and tough 7-9f horse and he has been a great thrill for his owner Phil Woods.
Phil had owned a horse called Ready to Prime who he sent to us to see if she had any ability. She had run as a 2yo and had not shown much for another yard but he wanted our opinion. She was a good looking individual but did not have the required engine. We ran her twice but it was obvious she did not have the ability and Phil was happy to retire her in order to invest in a horse with the prospect of getting him into the winner's enclosure.
Benandonner has run three times for him and he has put in his best everytime. He beaten a short head by Autumn Blades on 23rd January in a Class 2 race and we hope he can pop up in one of these in the foreseeable future!

Ross Moor

We are sorry you have not had the updates to the website over the past 2 months but it has been difficult to write anything in the knowledge the first comment has to be about Ross Moor!
We were all very upset in the yard at Ross Moor's fatal injury suffered at Lingfield on 16th December. He was leading with a furlong to go when his knee broke. The break was so bad the vets immediately put him to sleep.
He was a fine big stamp of a horse and a real character. The faces he pulled in his box suggested he would take your head off! However, the worst he managed was a few small bites.
He was a great ride on the gallops and on the track and he loved his turnout. Our favourite track is Sandown and he won two handicaps there for us. The course suited his style of running as he liked something to aim at and enjoyed mowing the leaders down from the middle of the track. However, if he was in amongst the other horses he would lose concentration as all he wanted to do was pull faces at the opposition.
We knew when he was really well in himself as he would make a noise by slapping his lips together and would stick his tongue out and leave it there until he got a carrot or a mint!
Although he has gone he will not be forgotten and his handsome frame in the winners enclosure at Sandown adorns the walls our kitchen.
