YAA MOUS -WINS at Leicester

Yaa Mous broke her maiden tag at Leicester yesterday under a fine ride from jockey Nicola Currie. The pace was quick in the race and Yaa Mous was taken off her feet in the first part of the race. However, at Leicester it is a long run in and as the leaders started to fade Yaa Mous started to get going and was the leader at the furlong pole. It looked like Pure Shores had made a winning move at the point from the pack and lead but Yaa Mous was having not of it and battled on very gamely to win by a length under a strong drive by Nicola.
We are delighted with Yaa Mous's performance as she has been a real treat to train. She is a sensitive filly who responds to being asked rather then being bullied and her regular ride, Luke Seal, has done a great job with her. She has size and scope and should benefit from a step up in trip.
The photo shows Luke giving Yaa Mous a pick of grass before getting on the horsebox for the journey home.

LILY ASH WINS at Beverley

Lily Ash recorded the 2nd win of her career with a gutsy performance at Beverley on Wednesday under a drive from Ger O'Neill. It was an Apprentice Classified Stakes for horses rated up to 55. Lily Ash was on that mark and we chose the most experienced jockey of those apprentices eligible to ride. Ger had ridden 5 winners at the tracl which was more than the combined figure of the other riders in the race. Although a bit further back than ideal she showed battling qualities up the stiff straight at the track and got up in the final half furlong.
The photo shows delighted winning connections with from ltr Michael Keady (Assistant Trainer), Ger ONeill, Kumbh Singh (her regular rider) and Denise Tibbett (Owner).

KODIAC EXPRESS - 3rd at Great Yarmouth

Kodiac Express once again ran with her heart on her sleeve but was beaten by a progressive horse on the day in Queen of Desire. She jumped well from the gate and set a good gallop but she couldn't get cover and having done most of the donkey work gave way in the final half furlong to the winner and Arzaak.
This was her 12th run of the current season and once again she gave everything in the race. She had previously won at the track and the flat 5f suits her style of being a front runner.
The photo shows Kodi with her lad, Hugo, in the 3rd place spot.

ZAMPERINI - 3rd at SANDOWN

Zamperini ran well at Sandown yesterday to record a 3rd placed spot despite the ground being a bit quicker than ideal. Zamperini prefers cut in the ground and although the official going was Good to Soft it did dry out during the day and was no slower than good ground by the time of the last race. However, he did grind out a third place spot due in part to the strong urgings of his jockey, Nicola Currie, who continues to impress.

RIO RONALDO - 4th at SANDOWN

Rio Ronaldo ran another fine race at Sandown yesterday. He was drawn in stall 1 which has traditionally been a good draw but with Rio's running style of coming from off the pace it is not the draw we wanted. However, he jumped well on the day and was further forward than we thought and in an ideal position given the lack of pace in the race. However, he got shuffled back and although he ran on well to take 4th spot he was never close enough to threaten the winner. However, it was another good run at Sandown and he is good heart.

YAA MOUS -2nd at CHEPSTOW

Yaa Mous ran with great credit at Chepstow recently. She is still a bit green and it was this that probably cost her the race toegther with the winner being streetwise and being ridden prominantly. Yaa Mous is still learning about the game and hopefully she van build on this encouraging start to her racing career.
