DESERT FOX - 2nd at Wolverhampton
Desert Fox ran an excellent race at Wolverhampton last Saturday night only to find one too good in his first race back for over a year. He jumped a bit slowly but his jockey, Shane Kelly, was able to get a handy position from his low draw within a furlong of the start. He travelled very well and turning for home he looked like the winner. However, when asked for his effort he was green and it took half a furlong for the penny to drop. That proverbial penny did drop in the final furlong but it was too late to get to the winner and the jackpot was not won! It was, however, in the words of the RP a storming run and we were thrilled with our boy.
"Foxy" is a fine, big horse weighing over 510kg and he has had some niggles this year but we were all thrilled to see him back on the track. It was effectively only his third run as one can draw a line through the run at Goodwood last year as he had a bad journey down and was upset before the race started and was far too free once the stalls opened. We are hopeful he can progress from here as he gains more experience and matures with his racing.
