Chapter And Verse WINS at Leicester

Chapter And Verse put up a fine effort with an all the way win at Leicester on Saturday afternoon. He repeated his tactics of last July when also a winner from the front over course and distance. He loved the quick ground and dictated from the off. He has been a great servant for the yard having won 6 races for us over the 6 years we have had him.
The photo below show the horse in the final stages of the race....

...and on the Winning Line...

..and enjoying well deserved congratulations in the Winner's Enclosure...

Wickhambrook 2nd at Wolverhampton

Wickhambrook was 2nd at Wolverhampton last Tuesday beaten a length by For Shia and Lula whose rider was able to dictate the race from the front. It was a good effort by the horse given he would have liked a stronger pace.

American Hope - Good run in the Abernant

We were pleased with American Hope's run in the G3 Abernant Stakes at Newmarket on thursday. He has always been a keen going sort and although a bit slow away against some seasoned sprinters he was quickly on the pace. He was in 4th place but didn't handle the undulations very well and was overtaken in the final furlong. He was eventually 7th and was beaten 4 3/4L in what was a strong contest.
With few opportunities around off his handicap mark of 103 he will now contest a couple of the Heritage Handicaps ie the Victoria Cup and the Wokingham.

Rio Ronaldo SCORES at Windsor

Forgive the tabloidesque headline but we were thrilled with the win of Rio Ronaldo at Windsor yesterday. Given an excellent ride by Ryan Moore, who settled Ronaldo towards the rear of the field, the horse picked up well at the furlong pole and won by one and a quarter lengths.
Ronaldo is a tall leggy individual who is a nice horse in the making and we have brought him along steadily. His win as a 2yo was a bonus given his size and we hope he can develop into a useful 6f horse this year.
The photos below show Ronaldo and connections.
Hugo, is regular rider, leading him around the Parade Ring:

...and a delighted Hugo leading Ronaldo into the Winners' Enclosure
....and delighted Owners
from left to right: Liz Hobson, Robert Cooper, Michelle Arlotte, Chris Rogerson, Paul Arlotte, Bill Rogerson Ann Graham (obscured) Alan East and Peter Graham........with in the background Diane Ellison and Tony Wideson, both supporters of the yard, on the rails....

...and finally, we have the stars themselves with Ronaldo, Hugo Meunier and Ryan Moore

Llyrical 3rd at Kempton

We were pleased with Llyrical who ran a fine race in defeat at Kempton on Wednesday evening. The plan was to take advantage of the low draw and be handy and Royston Ffrench got Llyrical smartly out of the gates. He was in second place but Berrahri drawn on the wide outside made a concerted effort to grab the lead and held that all the way to the line. Although beaten it was a good run from Llyrical who settled well but was up against a well handicapped rival in the favourite and he could never get on terms.
The photograph shows Llyrical in the Winners' Enclosure with part owner, John Runeckles, and stable-lad Stewart Gosnell.
